Caroline Kennedy Buvier, an American writer and lawyer, was born on November 27, 1957, in New York, USA. She was born into a family of influential politicians and businessmen. Her mother, Jacqueline, had multiple pregnancies, but most of the children either died or had serious birth defects. Only Caroline and her younger brother, John Jr., survived.
Early Life
When Caroline turned three in 1961, her father became the President of the United States, and the whole family moved to the White House. However, two years later, after the tragic events in Dallas in 1963 and the assassination of her father, the family relocated to Manhattan. There, Caroline attended Brearley School and the Convent of the Sacred Heart. She later studied at Concord Academy in Massachusetts. Following family tradition, Caroline Kennedy attended Harvard University, where she pursued her education. After graduating, she enrolled at Columbia University to study law and received her degree in 1988.
Career
During her time at Harvard, Caroline developed an interest in photojournalism and even worked as a photo correspondent at the 1976 Olympic Games in Innsbruck, Austria. In 1977, she became a photojournalist for the New York Daily News. However, after some time, Caroline realized that photojournalism was not her calling and shifted her focus to public service. She not only wrote several books but also worked as a prosecutor and became a member of the New York State Bar Association.
In 1989, the Kennedy family established the Profile in Courage Award, and Caroline played a crucial role in creating the Kennedy Library Foundation and the memorial to her father, the Harvard Institute of Politics. In 1999, tragedy struck again when Caroline's brother, John F. Kennedy Jr., died in a plane crash, leaving her as the sole surviving member of the former president's family.
From 2002 to 2004, Caroline worked as the Director of Strategic Partnerships for the New York City Department of Education. During this time, she wrote several more books. In 2008, Caroline actively supported Barack Obama in his presidential campaign and played a significant role in his election. After Obama's victory, Caroline attempted to run for the Senate, but she withdrew her candidacy in early 2009.
