A Unique Path to Royalty

In 1980, Hans Robert Lichtenberg, also known as Frederick, managed to gain the trust of the elderly German princess Maria Augusta von Anhalt. In exchange for promising to take care of her during her difficult times, she adopted him as her son. Although the adoption was met with skepticism and doubts, Frederick legally changed his name to Prince Frederick von Anhalt, adopting the title and surname of his adoptive mother.

A Hollywood Marriage and Business Ventures

In 1986, Prince Frederick met Hungarian actress Zsa Zsa Gabor and became her ninth husband. Despite the significant age difference of 28 years, their marriage has endured and remains the longest-lasting union in Zsa Zsa Gabor's life. Frederick has always maintained that their marriage was based on friendship rather than love, but they have managed to build a successful business trading under the name "Prince von Anhalt" and have even adopted several individuals, including the owner of German brothels, Marcus Eberhardt.

Political Aspirations in California

On January 25, 2010, at the age of 65, Prince Frederick von Anhalt announced his candidacy for the position of Governor of California. His campaign slogan, "Bring Back the Good Life in California," reflected his desire to make positive changes in the state. Notably, his campaign received the blessing of former California Governor Ronald Reagan, who believed in Prince Frederick's political potential.

Prince Frederick's campaign platform included various proposals such as implementing a "sin tax" and legalizing marijuana. He also advocated for opening the borders with Mexico to allow foreign workers to enter California, believing that their taxes would contribute to the state's budget. Additionally, he expressed support for the legalization of Cuban cigars, the recognition of same-sex marriages, and various tax and energy reforms. Although sympathizing with the Republican Party, Prince Frederick ran as an independent candidate.

A Controversial Figure

Throughout his life, Prince Frederick von Anhalt has been involved in various controversies. He has been accused of infidelity by his wife, Zsa Zsa Gabor, and there have been claims of his involvement with Anna Nicole Smith. In 2007, he reported a bizarre incident where he was allegedly robbed by three attractive women at gunpoint, although no evidence of the crime was found.

Despite his colorful past and controversial reputation, Prince Frederick von Anhalt remains an ambitious and eccentric figure in both society and politics. While his chances of winning the gubernatorial election in California are uncertain, his unique background as a German prince and his bold political platform have made him an intriguing candidate in the race to govern the “Golden State.”
