Caroline Wozniacki is a Danish tennis player of Polish descent. As of August 23, 2010, she was ranked as the second best female tennis player in the world by the WTA Tour.

Early Life and Family

Caroline was born in Odense, Denmark to Polish parents, Peter and Anna Wozniacki. Her father, Peter Wozniacki, was one of her coaches. The Wozniacki family has always had a strong connection to sports. Anna Wozniacki played for the Polish women's volleyball team, while Peter played professional football in Poland, Germany, and Denmark. Caroline's older brother, Patrick, is also involved in sports and plays football for the Danish club 'Brønshøj'.

Rise to Fame

Wozniacki's rise to fame began in her junior years. She consistently won various championships, including the Orange Bowl in 2005. She made her debut on the professional tennis circuit on July 19, 2005, at the Cincinnati Open. In 2006, Wozniacki had a successful run at the Australian Open Girls' Singles Championship, reaching the final but losing to Russian player Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. She also tried her hand at doubles, reaching the semifinals with Anna Tatishvili. In February 2006, Wozniacki reached her first quarterfinal in a WTA Tour event in Memphis, and she repeated this accomplishment in Stockholm later that year.

On October 29, 2007, Wozniacki won her first professional title, the International Tennis Federation Championship in Istanbul. She was scheduled to play against Venus Williams on November 27, but Williams withdrew due to injury. They eventually played on February 20, 2007, with Williams defeating Wozniacki and ending her nine-match winning streak. In 2007, Wozniacki participated in the Pacific Life Open but was eliminated in the second round by Martina Hingis. A rematch took place in Copenhagen on April 27, but Wozniacki lost again. In October, she reached her first career semifinal in Tokyo, where she was defeated by Venus Williams.

Success and Accolades

In 2008, Wozniacki achieved more success by winning the Nordic Light Open in Stockholm, defeating Vera Dushevina. This, along with her other results that year, led to her being named the WTA Tour Newcomer of the Year. In 2009, Wozniacki had a slow start but eventually reached the final of the US Open. In 2010, she faced some ups and downs, including losses at the Sydney International and the Australian Open to Li Na of China. She also suffered an ankle injury during a match against Vera Zvonareva, which forced her to take a break from training. However, Wozniacki has since returned to form and continues to excel on the tennis courts.

After her successful performance at the 2009 US Open, where she reached the final and was defeated by Kim Clijsters, Wozniacki became the official representative of Stella McCartney's sportswear line.
