Early Life and EducationCarrie Hamilton, born in 1963 in New York City, inherited her artistic talents from her mother, comedian Carol Burnett. Growing up, Carrie excelled as a performer in school productions before enrolling at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California.

Acting Debut
Hamilton made her acting debut in 1985 in the television series "Fame," playing the recurring role of Reggie Higgins. She continued to perform on stage, most notably in the rock musical "Rent" where she portrayed Maureen Johnson.
Film and Television Career
In 1988, Hamilton starred in the film "Tokyo Pop" as an American singer who travels to Japan and finds success with a local band. She also appeared alongside Brad Pitt and Gabriel Byrne in the animated film "Cool World" in 1992. Throughout her career, Hamilton frequently collaborated with her mother, including in the films "Hostage" (1988) and the television series "Touched By An Angel" (1997).
"The X-Files"
In 1999, Hamilton joined the cast of the popular television series "The X-Files" for its sixth season, playing the girlfriend of a bank robber who experiences a strange time loop.
Personal Life
In the 1990s, Hamilton's romantic relationship with country-rock musician Ryan Adams became a source of inspiration for his music. She also assisted her mother in adapting her memoir into a stage play titled "Hollywood Arms."
Tragic Loss
On January 20, 2002, Carrie Hamilton passed away in Los Angeles at the age of 38 after battling lung and brain cancer. Her memory lives on in various ways.
Legacy
In 2006, the Balcony Theatre was renamed the Carrie Hamilton Theatre in her honor. Four years later, the Carrie Hamilton Entertainment Institute was established at Anaheim University, thanks to a donation from her mother, Carol Burnett.
