Prior to her iconic role as Luna Mora, Borland had previously worked with Bela Lugosi in a stage production of "Dracula," where she portrayed a victim of the vampire.

Borland is best known for her chilling performance as the ethereal Luna Mora, the haunting daughter of Count Mora (portrayed by Bela Lugosi) in Tod Browning's 1935 horror film "Mark of the Vampire" (also known as "Vampires of Prague"). Despite its tame horror by today's standards, the film was banned in Poland and heavily censored in Hungary, where scenes of shrieks, bats, and other "frightful" moments were excised.
One of the film's most iconic and technically challenging scenes involved Borland flying like a bat. To this day, fans of horror cinema debate "Mark of the Vampire" for its unusual ending, which reveals that the "vampires" were merely actors hired to ensnare the real killer.
