Catherine Coulter was born in 1942 and raised in a creative and artistic household. Her father was a painter and vocalist, while her mother was a pianist. Sadly, her mother passed away prematurely at the age of 37. Her grandmother, like Catherine, was also a writer.
Early Writing Experiences
Catherine began writing at an early age, penning her first two novels (each 15 pages long) at the tender age of 14. During her first year at the University of Texas, she focused on writing poetry.
Education and Career
Catherine earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Texas and later pursued a master's degree in early 19th-century European history at Boston College. After completing her education, she relocated to New York City and worked as a speechwriter.

Catherine's first novel, "The Autumn Countess," was published by Penguin Books in 1978. By 1982, her writing had become so successful that she was able to leave her job and focus on writing full-time.
