Cherish: An American R&B Girl Group
Cherish is an American R&B girl group formed in 2003. The group consists of the King sisters: Farrah, Neosha, and twins Felisha and Fallon. They are based in Atlanta, Georgia, and are signed to Capitol Records and Sho'nuff Records.
Early Years and Debut
Cherish's debut single, "Miss P," was released in 2003 under the production of Jermaine Dupri, who had worked with artists such as Kandi and Da Brat. They went on to collaborate with Warner Bros. and contributed to their hit song "In Luv Wit Chu." They also sang several songs for the popular animated series The Powerpuff Girls, including "Chemical X," "Power of a Female," and "Me and My Girls."
Hiatus and Return
Cherish's album, The Moment, was initially planned for release but was indefinitely delayed. The group went silent on the music scene for three years, leading to speculation about their disbandment. However, they returned in 2006 with their hit single "Do It to It," which reached number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
Unappreciated and Debut Album
The group's next single, "Unappreciated," became the lead single of their debut album in 2006. The album's release had been delayed due to the production team's desire to create a more mature and polished sound. It was produced by Jermaine Dupri, Don Vito, and JayzTwo and was released in August 2006. The album sold over 491,000 copies, establishing Cherish as one of the most popular R&B groups.
Recent Projects
In May 2008, Cherish released their second album, which had initially been scheduled for April but was delayed for undisclosed reasons. The group described the album as more sophisticated and polished than their previous work.
