Cherry Jones is an American actress known for her versatile performances in both television and theater. She was born in Paris, Tennessee, where her mother worked as a teacher and her father owned a flower shop.
Education and Early Career
In 1978, Jones graduated from the Carnegie Mellon School of Drama, marking the beginning of her successful acting journey. She gained recognition for her portrayal of President Allison Taylor in the Fox TV series "24". However, her extensive stage experience has also earned her critical acclaim.
Stage Career
Jones has appeared in various Broadway productions, including "The Heiress" in 1995, for which she won a Tony Award. She also received a Tony nomination for her role in John Patrick Shanley's play, "Doubt", in 2005.
