Biography of Chino Moreno

Chino Moreno, the vocalist and guitarist of the bands Deftones, Team Sleep, and Crosses, was born in 1973. He earned his nickname due to his appearance, which he inherited from his mother, as "chino" means "Chinese" in Spanish. Chino grew up in a modest family, with his father being Mexican and his mother having Mexican, Irish, and Chinese roots. He had four siblings, two older and two younger.

Chino did not complete his schooling as he was expelled, and he struggled with drug addiction throughout his life. In August 2000, during a ceremony, Chino and his band Deftones were awarded the key to the city of Sacramento. He humorously responded, "And where will they let us in for free now?"

Chino Moreno was previously married to Celeste Schroeder and has two sons named Jakobi and Christian. He is currently divorced and has a daughter with his new girlfriend, Risa Mora.

Chino, along with the other members of Deftones, was acquainted with Max Cavalera and was friends with Max's deceased stepson, Dana Wells.
