Born on August 14, 1954, in Zurich, Switzerland, Christian Gross is a renowned football coach.
Playing Career
During his playing career, Gross represented several clubs in his homeland, including "Grasshopper," "Lausanne," "Xamax," "St. Gallen," and "Lugano." He also spent a couple of years in the German Bundesliga, playing for "Bochum" and scoring four goals in 29 matches. Gross also had one appearance for the Swiss national team.
Coaching Career
Gross started his coaching career in 1988 when he took charge of "Ville," a club that climbed up two tiers from the lower divisions. From 1993 to 1997, he led "Grasshopper" and achieved notable success in the UEFA Champions League. During this period, Gross won two Swiss championships and one national cup.
In the 1997/98 season, Gross joined English club "Tottenham," and despite achieving decent results, he struggled to adapt to the British press and the club's management. In 1999, he became the head coach of "Basel," where he won four league titles and an equal number of national cups. He also guided his team to an impressive performance in the 2001/02 UEFA Champions League and reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup.
