Biography of Christiane Martel

Christiane Martel, a French actress, was born in 1932 in the town of Châtellerault in the Vienne department of France. She gained recognition as the winner of the Miss Universe beauty pageant in 1953, becoming the first Frenchwoman to achieve this title. Prior to her victory at Miss Universe, Martel also participated in the Miss France 1953 pageant, where she was the runner-up.

At the age of 21, Christiane Martel represented France in the Miss Universe competition and emerged as the winner in 1953. Her triumph attracted the attention of advertising agencies and show business representatives. In 1954, Martel made her debut in the historical adventure film "Yankee Pasha" alongside fellow Miss Universe contestant, Mirna Hansen. This marked the beginning of her successful acting career, during which she appeared in films such as "This Is Paris," "Long Live Love!," "Senoritas," "The Cry of the Guilty," "The White Rose," and "Juana Gallo," among others.

Christiane Martel was briefly married to Ronnie Marengo, the owner of a large department store, but they divorced in 1955. She then married Miguel Alemán Velasco, the son of the President of Mexico, Miguel Alemán Valdés. Her husband later became the governor of the Mexican state of Veracruz. Today, Christiane Martel resides in Mexico with her husband. They have three daughters and a son, Miguel Alemán Manianni, who is one of the shareholders and executives of the Mexican media conglomerate "Televisa" and the owner of the budget airline "Interjet."

In 1993, Christiane Martel made her last appearance on television as the former Miss Universe. She was a close friend of the renowned Spanish singer Rafael Martos Sánchez, better known as Raphael, and her husband. Christiane Martel frequently attended his performances as she was a passionate fan of his music.
