Zhivkov began his acting career during his studies, appearing in student films and short-lived television series. In the late 1990s, he made his feature film debut in "I ragazzi del muretto" and starred in "Sulamith" and "Waste."
Zhivkov gained international recognition for his portrayal of Giovanni de Medici in "The Magnificent Medicis: Knight of War" (2002). He went on to star in "Pechalbata," "Texas 46," and "Oggi è una bella giornata."
