Chuck Turner's Biography
Chuck Turner, an American who lost 190 kg, is an American with an eating disorder who, after the death of his wife, began eating excessively and could not stop. Eventually, when it was almost too late, Chuck finally said to himself 'Stop!' and went on a diet. Today, 45-year-old Chuck Turner from Beaumont, Texas, still does not look skinny, but not long ago his weight was literally off the charts - Chuck weighed around 315 kg. Chuck himself says that in his 'previous life' he was never overweight - he ate normally, was fit, but weight problems were not an issue. He was happy, he loved his family, and there were no signs of trouble. But soon Chuck's wife tragically died (it was murder), and unable to cope with grief, he began to eat to comfort himself. His appetite grew not by the days, but by the hours - the more Chuck ate, the more he wanted to eat, and soon his weight began to dangerously climb. Unfortunately, even though he noticed this, Chuck was unable to control himself and only prepared himself for more portions. At some point, his weight reached 200 kg and continued to increase.

A Life-changing Decision
Chuck's second wife, Nissa, recalls that when she first met him, he was extremely self-conscious about his size. It is worth mentioning that Nissa could hardly be called petite, but it was then that she came up with the idea - what if they tried to overcome everything together? They had a baby named Nathan, and everything would have been fine if it weren't for Chuck's weight, which kept growing. Unfortunately, he soon became completely immobile, and all Chuck could do was sit on the couch in front of the television. He admitted that his biggest dream in the world was to be normal - to walk with his son, play with him, and enjoy watching him grow up, but he had to give his parental love to his son from the same couch. The situation also frustrated Nissa - with her husband alive, she felt like a single mother, as she had to take care of the child and the household by herself. Moreover, over time, the burden of taking care of immobile Chuck fell on her as well. The woman slowly went insane with hopelessness, and she was the first to tell Chuck that things could not continue this way - something had to change.

A New Beginning
Eventually, a more than 10-kilogram tumor grew on Chuck's left leg. It made him permanently immobile, and soon he stopped getting out of bed and even had to eat lying down while Nissa brought him plates. In the end, Chuck decided to undergo surgery - by that time, only surgery could save him. As a result of gastric bypass surgery, Chuck Turner planned to lose around 180 kg of his weight, but it proved to be a difficult task. After the challenging surgery and a strict diet, Chuck managed to lose about 190 kg, and it became the beginning of a new life for him. A year after the operation, Turner was able to work again - life gradually returned to normal. Later, Chuck recalled that the preparation for the operation, as well as the months after it, were a tough trial, but he always remembered his life 'before,' his hated, immobile body, his crumbling marriage, and it gave him strength. 'A year ago, I was just a living dead man. This operation saved my life. I know that there is still a long way to go, but I also know that I can do it. I am ready to move forward,' Chuck would tell himself when the feeling of hunger tried to overpower his mind. Later, there were more surgeries to remove excess skin and the tumor on his leg. Today, Chuck knows how much easier it is to roll downhill than to climb uphill. He also knows how dangerous it is to let oneself go, as he has already been on the brink. He does not hide the fact that without life-saving surgery, he would hardly have been able to recover on his own, but doctors are convinced - without the patient's desire and willpower, no surgery in the world can help.
