Clara Ajibekova: A Prominent Kyrgyz Politician and Scholar
Early Life and EducationClara Ajibekova was born in 1946 in Naryn, Kyrgyzstan. In 1961, she graduated from medical school. She then went on to earn degrees from the Kyrgyz State Medical Institute (1970), the Academy of Social Sciences under the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (1973), and the Russian Academy of Civil Service (1990).
Academic Career
After completing her medical studies, Ajibekova embarked on an academic career. She taught and held various positions at the Kyrgyz National University, Kyrgyz State Medical Institute, and the Institute of Political Science and Social Management under the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kyrgyzstan. She is currently a professor at the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University.

Ajibekova is an expert in philosophy and religious studies. She has authored over 120 scientific works, including four monographs. Her research focuses on various aspects of philosophy and religion, including the impact of communist ideology on society.
Political Activism and Views
In 1999, Ajibekova became involved in politics, leading the breakaway Communist Party of Kyrgyzstan. She espouses Marxist-Leninist principles and has expressed admiration for Soviet leader Joseph Stalin. Ajibekova is an advocate for bilingualism in Kyrgyzstan, emphasizing the importance of the Kyrgyz language.
Elections and Protests
Ajibekova has participated in several parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan but has not been elected to office. In 2005, she failed to meet the 7% threshold in the capital city of Bishkek. In 2015, she organized a protest against alleged US interference in Kyrgyzstan, demanding the withdrawal of the US chargé d'affaires.
Environmental Concerns
In recent years, Ajibekova has spoken out about environmental issues in Kyrgyzstan. She believes that people lack sufficient ecological education and that capitalism hinders the solution to environmental problems.
Proposed Constitutional Amendment
In 2020, Ajibekova called for the elimination of the status of ex-president in Kyrgyzstan's draft constitution, arguing that no president deserved such recognition due to their past actions.
