Claude Lelouch - A Multifaceted Filmmaker and Lover of Life
Claude Lelouch is a French film director, screenwriter, cinematographer, actor, and producer. He is known for his diverse roles in the film industry, often working as a director, screenwriter, producer, and cinematographer simultaneously. Lelouch's participation in various juries and committees is not driven by vanity but by a genuine interest in the world of cinema. Perhaps it is this passion that endears him to audiences.

A Passion for Filmmaking from an Early Age
From the age of 12, Lelouch was captivated by the world of cinema, tirelessly carrying a handheld camera and immersing himself in the intricacies of the filmmaking process. His first taste of recognition came at the age of 13 when he won a Cannes award for his short film "The Evil of the World." Although it was just an amateur film festival, this victory inspired Lelouch to never stop pursuing his dreams. He subsequently made his mark at the Cannes Film Festival in 1966 with his film "A Man and a Woman," which earned him the top prize.

A Humble Creator and Admirer of Others
Whenever you come across Claude Lelouch's name in books or newspapers, you will often see it accompanied by numerous other names. Lelouch loves to talk about others. He is not inclined towards self-promotion; instead, he revels in the world, its people, and what he calls the objective reality. Some Americans label him as sentimental for this reason. In his recently published autobiography, "The Plaything of Destiny," the director shares stories about the people he has worked with or simply encountered in life. It is difficult to find a filmmaker who genuinely admires his colleagues as much as Lelouch does. He considers himself fortunate and privileged because fate has granted him numerous fascinating encounters.

A Believer in Soul Transmigration and the Beauty of Love
Lelouch, known for his philosophical musings, believes in the transmigration of souls. He does not engage in debates about who is superior, men or women, stating: "A man is someone who goes all the way, and a woman is the same, only she cries more." The most beautiful love story in his life was short-lived. While filming the movie "Live for Life," he tenderly courted Annie Girardot. Annie, burdened by an alcoholic husband, accepted Lelouch's love but ultimately ended the relationship after shooting ended. According to her, Lelouch was too gentle. "I love the truth," Lelouch once said, "perhaps because in my past life, I was a notorious liar..."
