Biography of Jack Leon Gordon
Jack Leon Gordon was born in 1939 in Springfield, Illinois, to Russian immigrant Abraham Gordon and his wife, Fay Stein. He grew up in a Jewish family. In the 1970s, Gordon worked as a circus manager in Las Vegas before becoming the owner of a controlling stake in 'Circus Maximus' in Hollywood. However, his career during that time was marred by legal issues, including being a suspect in a murder case involving one of his business partners. In 1979, he spent six months in prison after being caught by FBI agents attempting to bribe the chairman of the Gaming Commission in Nevada. Despite claiming that he was set up and the bribe was prearranged, Gordon was still convicted.
Manager and Husband of La Toya Jackson
In the mid-1980s, Gordon became the impresario of La Toya Jackson, sister of Michael Jackson. He entered her life in 1987 by offering her a role in a music video show he was working on. The promised show never materialized, but in September 1989, Gordon married La Toya. However, she later revealed that the marriage was against her will.
Domination and Controversies
During their marriage, La Toya became completely subservient to Gordon, both legally and often physically. He had control over all her documents, contracts, accounts, and finances. Their relationship was marked by physical abuse and isolation from her family. It was only after Gordon's death that La Toya felt able to speak out about the details of her life with him. In her autobiography, 'La Toya: Growing Up in the Jackson Family,' she described the extent of Gordon's control over her.
Scandals and Accusations
Gordon had a limited client list, which included John Wayne Bobbitt, Gloria Gaynor, Shannen Doherty, and even Sharon Stone. In 1999, he became involved in a scandal centered around Paula Jones, who accused President Clinton of misconduct.
Later Years and Death
Gordon died at the age of 65 from cancer in April 19, 2005, at Mayo Hospital in Arizona. Prior to his death, he had already faked his own death, leading La Toya Jackson to request a special investigation to confirm his passing. He left behind two children and grandchildren from another marriage.
