Rise to Fame

Claudine made her film debut as a schoolgirl when she was discovered by French poet and director Jean-Maurice Eugène Clément Cocteau. Although her name was not mentioned in the credits, Cocteau gave Claudine a role as a ballerina in his film "The Testament of Orpheus" in 1960.

Marriage and Film Career

At the age of 18, Claudine married Pierre Gaspar-Yves, a 41-year-old director and screenwriter. Her husband helped her secure roles in several films, including the adventure film "The Iron Mask" with Jean Marais in 1962 and the family fantasy "Kali-Yug, Goddess of Vengeance" in 1963.

James Bond Role

Claudine's most famous role came in 1965 when she played Dominique "Domino" Derval, the love interest of secret agent James Bond, in the film "Thunderball." Originally, the role was intended for an Italian actress, Dominetta Petacchi, but Claudine impressed the filmmakers so much that they rewrote the script for her. Although she took English lessons to improve her language skills, her lines in the film were ultimately dubbed by Nikki van der Zyl.

Later Career and Personal Life

After her successful portrayal in "Thunderball," Claudine continued to have a successful career in Europe but struggled to achieve the same level of success in the United States. She appeared in films such as the Italian horror film "Black Belly of the Tarantula" in 1971 and the action film "Triple Cross" in 1966.

Claudine married businessman Peter Brent and remained his wife until his death in August 2008.
