Claudius Drusus
Representative of the Julio-Claudian family.
Claudius Drusus
Claudius Drusus was a member of the Julio-Claudian dynasty, the son of the future emperor Claudius and his first wife, Plautia Urgulanilla.
Early Life and Betrothal
Drusus was born in 20 AD. At the age of eight, he was betrothed to Junilla, the daughter of the powerful Praetorian Prefect Sejanus. Sejanus sought to marry his daughter into the imperial family to strengthen his own position.
Death and Suspicious Circumstances
However, the wedding between Drusus and Junilla never took place. A few days after the betrothal, Drusus died from choking on a pear. Suspicion fell on Sejanus, but it is likely that his death was an accident.
