Clive Owen was born on October 3, 1964, in the small English town of Coventry. He grew up in a family with four brothers and was raised by his mother and stepfather, who worked as a cashier at a train station. Owen developed an interest in acting at a young age and began performing in a youth theater when he was 13.

After finishing school, Owen struggled to choose a career path and lived on unemployment benefits for a while. However, he eventually realized that his true calling was to become an actor and enrolled in the Academy of Dramatic Art.

In 1987, Owen began working at the Young Vic Theatre in London, where he made his stage debut in Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet."
