Katie Burke, born Katherine Lucy Bridget Burke in 1964 in London, is a British actress. Despite a difficult childhood, with the early loss of her mother to cancer when she was only two years old and the inability to live with her alcoholic father, Katie believed in her own success. At the age of 16, she discovered her passion for acting while playing a role in a school play, realizing that she excelled in comedic and funny roles.

Early Career

Katie's first foray into the film industry was in May Zetterling's movie "Scrubbers" in 1983. That same year, she also appeared in David Drury's drama "Forever Young." Additionally, Katie began making regular appearances on television, joining the cast of shows such as "The Bill," "A Very Peculiar Practice," "Casualty," "Absolutely Fabulous," and many others.

Breakthrough Roles

In 1986, Katie played Brenda Windsor in the iconic biographical film "Sid and Nancy" directed by Alex Cox. The film depicted the life and death of Sid Vicious, focusing on the crazy seventies, rock music, and the formation and breakup of the legendary band Sex Pistols. The role of Brenda was portrayed by Courtney Love, and it was on the set of this film that Katie met her. The following year, she reunited with director Alex Cox in the comedy "Straight to Hell."
