Biography of Linda Fiorentino
Actress Linda Fiorentino was born in Philadelphia in 1960, into an Italian family with eight children (two boys and six girls). She graduated from Rosemont College in Philadelphia, specializing in political science. Initially, Fiorentino intended to attend law school, but during her first year of college, she started appearing in university theater productions and decided to pursue a career in acting.
Early Acting Career
After moving to New York, Linda auditioned and was accepted into the studio at the Circle in the Square Theatre. It was during her early auditions that director Harold Becker cast Fiorentino in the lead role of "Vision Quest" (1985), marking her impressive debut as a young and beautiful brunette. She starred opposite Matthew Modine in the film. In the same year, she appeared with Anthony Edwards in the Cold War thriller "Gotcha!" as a seductive secret agent and made a memorable appearance in Martin Scorsese's dark comedy "After Hours" as the eccentric sculptor Kiki Bridges.
Breakthrough Role
In her next project, Alan Rudolph's film "The Moderns" (1988), Fiorentino had a significant opportunity to showcase her talent. In the role of Rachel, a partner worn down by life to John Lone's character, Fiorentino portrayed the vulnerability of her character, which was unexpected given her previous screen roles.
Later Career
Over the next few years, she somewhat faded among other actors in lesser-known films such as "Queens Logic" (1991) and "Chain of Desire" (1992). However, in 1994, Fiorentino gained attention by portraying an unapologetic femme fatale in John Dahl's "The Last Seduction" (1994), earning awards for Best Actress from the New York Film Critics Association and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. Originally filmed for cable television, the movie, largely due to Fiorentino's performance, received such positive reviews that it was also released in theaters.
