Marriage to Anne Heche

On September 1, 2001, after three months of engagement, Cole Laffoon married Hollywood actress Anne Heche. Interestingly, Laffoon met his future wife on the set of a comedy film featuring Ellen DeGeneres, whom Heche had previously dated. The couple welcomed their first child, a son named Homer Heche Laffoon, on March 2, 2002.

Divorce and Custody Battle

In January 2007, Laffoon and Heche officially announced their separation, and on February 2, Laffoon filed for divorce. It was later revealed that Heche left her husband for her co-star James Tupper from the TV series 'Men in Trees'. Following their separation, Heche moved in with her new partner, and in March 2009, they welcomed their second child, a son named Atlas Heche Tupper.

Before the birth of their second child, the lengthy divorce process between Laffoon and Heche concluded on March 10, 2009. This was preceded by a bitter custody battle over their son Homer, during which Laffoon accused Heche of being mentally unstable, citing her autobiography titled 'Call Me Crazy', published in 2001. Laffoon also claimed that Heche neglected her maternal responsibilities.

Ultimately, the superior court of Los Angeles granted full custody rights to Cole Laffoon and ordered Heche to pay child support for their son. In 2009, the court also mandated the use of a special coordinator to help Laffoon and Heche establish a more orderly relationship with Homer. The court order remains in effect until May 1, 2011.
