Biography of Colin Morgan
Colin Morgan was born in 1986 in Armagh, Northern Ireland. He grew up with his brother Neil in a family that valued education and the arts. After completing his studies at the Institute of Further and Higher Education in Belfast in 2004, Morgan continued to pursue his passion for acting.
Early Career
In 2007, Morgan graduated from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. That same year, he made his debut on the theatrical stage, portraying the protagonist Vernon in a production of "Vernon God Little" at the Young Vic Theatre in London. He followed this with a role in the adaptation of Pedro Almodóvar's "All About My Mother" and later played Jimmy in "A Prayer for My Daughter" at the same theater.
Television Success
Morgan's television career took off with appearances in "The Catherine Tate Show" and the renowned series "Doctor Who," where he played the character Jethro. However, his breakout role came in 2008 when he was cast as Merlin in the BBC series "Merlin." This new version of the Arthurian legend portrayed Merlin as a young wizard, a departure from the traditional portrayal of an aged sage. Morgan received critical acclaim for his performance, earning several award nominations and winning the Variety Club Showbiz Award in 2008.
Continued Success
Following the success of "Merlin," Morgan went on to work on various projects, including the British drama "Island" directed by Elizabeth Mitchell in 2010. He also played the lead character, Calum, in the upcoming film "Parked" directed by Darragh Byrne.
Multifaceted Talents
In addition to his work on stage and in film, Morgan has also showcased his talent on the radio. In 2009, he appeared as Roger in "Cry Babies." Notably, Morgan is a vegetarian and advocates for animal rights.
