Chris Judd: From Dance to Screen
Born Cristan Leenon "Cris" Judd in 1969 in Texas, Chris Judd is an American actor, choreographer, and renowned dancer. His greatest claim to fame came from his brief marriage to Jennifer Lopez.
Athleticism and Early Talent
Judd grew up on military bases in the Philippines and Hawaii before moving to Florida with his family. Athletic, charismatic, and good-looking, he excelled in golf, surfing, and dancing. It was during college that he discovered his exceptional dancing ability by chance, competing in a dance contest.
Rise as a Dancer
In 1995, Judd joined Michael Jackson's dance troupe for the MTV Video Music Awards. He quickly became a lead dancer, collaborating with artists such as Celine Dion, Enrique Iglesias, and Brian McKnight. He later co-created "The Midnight Fantasy" with Eddie Garcia.
Meeting Jennifer Lopez
While working with Lopez's dance group on "Love Don't Cost a Thing," Judd met his future wife. They married in a lavish ceremony in 2001, but the marriage dissolved eight months later.
Transition to Acting
After his divorce, Judd announced his retirement from dancing and pursued acting. His television debut was in the sitcom "Everybody Loves Raymond" in 1996. He subsequently appeared in shows like "Hollywood Squares," "Half & Half," and "Eve." Judd's roles grew more significant, leading to the lead role in the sitcom "Unfabulous" in 2006.
Film Appearances
Judd's film credits include Brad in "Unexpected Love" (2006) and the short film "LA Noir" (2007). In 2009, he starred in "Goyband" and "The Outside."
