Kelsey Grammer, born on February 21, 1955, in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, is an American actor best known for his portrayal of the character Dr. Frasier Crane. He played this role for over two decades, nine years in the sitcom "Cheers" and eleven years in the series "Frasier".

Early Life and Career

Kelsey Grammer was born into a family of performers, with his mother, Sally Cranmer, being a singer, and his father, Frank Allen Grammer Jr., a musician and owner of a coffee shop and grill-bar. When Kelsey was young, his parents divorced, and he was raised by his mother and her parents in New Jersey.

In the early 1980s, Grammer's television career began with his role as Stephen Smith in the NBC miniseries "Kennedy". However, it was his portrayal of Dr. Frasier Crane in the sitcom "Cheers" that brought him fame and recognition.

Later, his former classmate from Juilliard School of Music and Broadway colleague, Mandy Patinkin, introduced Kelsey to the head of the acting department at a New York film studio.
