Club career

Cristiano Zanetti began his professional career with Fiorentina (1993-1996), before moving to Venezia (1996-1997). In the 1997/1998 season, Zanetti played for Reggina before joining Inter Milan, the UEFA Cup winners of 1997/98, at the age of 21 in 1998. He played alongside his namesake, the legendary Inter player Javier Zanetti, who is not related to him. Zanetti made his debut for the club on August 26, 1998, against Sconto, and was later loaned out to Cagliari along with another Inter player, Mohammed Kallon. During his time at Fiorentina, he won the Italian Cup in 1996.

National team

Zanetti also represented the Italian national team, playing in the 2002 FIFA World Cup and the 2004 UEFA European Championship. However, he was not called up to the national team after 2004.

Move to Juventus

Despite the Serie A scandal that led to Juventus being relegated to Serie B, Zanetti joined Juventus as a free agent in July 2006. He won only one Scudetto with Roma during his career.

Move to Brescia

On August 10, 2009, Zanetti moved to Fiorentina, and on January 31, 2011, he signed a contract with Brescia until June 2012, becoming the second new signing for the team after Davide Lanzafame.
