The album's catchy beats, raw lyrics, and Brat's signature androgynous style shattered gender stereotypes in hip-hop and earned her the distinction of being the first female rapper to have a platinum-selling solo album.

Her follow-up album, "Anuthatantrum," released in 1996, showcased a more mature and polished Da Brat.
