Biography of Dan Poznyak

Dan Ivanovich Poznyak was born on October 19, 1939. He is a renowned boxer and has achieved numerous victories and titles throughout his career.

Early Career and Achievements

Dan started his boxing journey in 1953 in Vilnius under the guidance of coach Z. Katilus. Later, he was trained by A. Levitskas. In 1960, he emerged as the winner of the Youth Individual Championship of the USSR, held in Almaty from April 21 to 24. This victory allowed him to participate in the USSR Championship, where he won a silver medal.

National and International Success

After winning the USSR Championship in 1962 in the light-heavyweight category, Dan caught the attention of the national team coaches. He became an Olympic champion, winning the XIX Olympic Games and went on to become a three-time European champion. He also emerged victorious in numerous international tournaments, solidifying his reputation as a skilled and talented boxer.

Later Career and Contributions

From 1971 onwards, Dan Poznyak became an international category referee and an active judge of AIBA (International Boxing Association). His expertise and knowledge in the sport were recognized, and he played a crucial role in officiating boxing matches at the international level.
