Early Career and Loan to West HamDani began his football career at Sporting Lisbon, a local club. In search of more playing time, he was sent on loan to English club West Ham United. However, his appearance opportunities there were limited.

In 1996, Dani joined Dutch club Ajax. Over four years, he established himself as a valuable squad member. His debut came against Twente on September 29, 1996. He made a memorable contribution to Ajax's success in the 1996/97 UEFA Champions League by scoring a crucial long-range goal against Atletico Madrid.
Return to Portugal and Final Club
After leaving Ajax, Dani returned to Portugal to play for Benfica. However, he only managed five appearances. His final club was Atletico Madrid in Spain, where he helped secure the second division title in the 2001/02 season.
