Biography of Daniel Kim
Daniel Kim is an American television actor of Korean descent. He is best known for his role as Jin-Soo Kwon in the television series "Lost".
Early Life and Education
Kim was born in Busan, South Korea. His family moved to the United States when he was two years old. He grew up in Easton, Pennsylvania, in the Lehigh Valley area. Kim completed his high school education in Easton and then attended Haverford College in Haverford Township. He specialized in both political science and theater during his time at college. He further pursued his study of performing arts at nearby Bryn Mawr College in Bryn Mawr.
Career
After completing his college education in 1996, Kim participated in the New York University's Actor Training Program. Before landing the role of Jin-Soo Kwon, Daniel Kim had appeared in various smaller roles, often in fantasy, science fiction, and police detective shows. Some of the series he acted in include "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation", "Angel", "24", "Star Trek: Voyager", "Star Trek: Enterprise", "Crusade", "Charmed", "The Shield", "Seinfeld", "NYPD Blue", and "ER". Recently, he played the lead role in the A&E mini-series "The Andromeda Strain".
Kim has had limited appearances on the big screen, with a cameo role as Dr. Octavius' assistant in the film "Spider-Man 2" and a small part in the 2004 crime drama "Crash". In 2005, he was listed as one of the "Sexiest Men Alive" by People Magazine. He has also provided voice work for video games, such as Johnny Gat in "Saints Row" and his character from the show "24" in "24: The Game". Additionally, he voiced the character Metron in the final two episodes of the animated series "Justice League Unlimited".
In the well-known Rodgers and Hammerstein play "The King and I", Kim portrayed the role of King of Siam. The play ran from June 12th to 28th, 2009, at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
Personal Life
On October 25, 2007, Kim was arrested in Hawaii for driving under the influence. He later publicly apologized for the incident. Interestingly, two other actors from the show "Lost", Michelle Rodriguez (Ana Lucia) and Cynthia Watros (Libby), were also arrested for the same offense.
