Daniel Ayala is a Spanish footballer who currently plays as a defender for Middlesbrough in the English Championship.
Early Career
Born in Ecija, Spain, Ayala began his football journey with the Sevilla academy. He moved to England in 2008 and joined the Liverpool reserve team.
Liverpool Debut
In 2009, Ayala was promoted to Liverpool's first team for a pre-season tour in Switzerland. Impressive performances earned him a debut in the Premier League opener against Tottenham Hotspur, replacing Martin Skrtel in the second half.
Loan Spells
In August 2011, Ayala transferred to Premier League newcomers Norwich City. He spent time on loan at Nottingham Forest in 2012 and Middlesbrough in 2013.
Middlesbrough
Ayala joined Middlesbrough on a permanent contract in January 2014. He quickly established himself in the starting lineup and scored in his first game for the club. Ayala's performances helped Middlesbrough reach the Championship play-offs in 2016, where they finished runners-up.
International Career
Ayala represented Spain at youth level, playing in one match for the under-21 team in 2011.
