Early Life and Career
Darjo Stanić is a Slovenian footballer who primarily played as a midfielder. He started his career in Montenegro, representing clubs such as Grbalj and Petrovac.
European Experience
In 2008, Darjo made four appearances in the UEFA Intertoto Cup with Petrovac. His impressive performances abroad caught the attention of Ukrainian club Illyichevets Mariupol, who signed him in September 2009.
Career in Ukraine
At Illyichevets, Darjo wore the number 6 and made his Premier League debut in October 2009 against Metalist Kharkiv. He came on as a substitute in the 82nd minute, but his team suffered a 2-0 defeat.
Return to Slovenia
Darjo's Ukrainian adventure was short-lived, and he left Illyichevets in January 2010. Later that year, in September 2010, he returned to Slovenia and joined Second League club Smartno 1928.
Post-Playing Career
After retiring from professional football, Darjo transitioned into coaching. He currently serves as a youth coach for NK Celje in his home country of Slovenia.
