Daniel Wende: German Pairs Figure Skater
Early Career with Rebecca HandkeDaniel Wende's skating journey began alongside Rebecca Handke from the "SC Moehnesee" club. Under the guidance of Julia Gnilozubova and later Knut Schubert, the duo emerged as youth champions and adult national silver medalists. Their most notable achievement was a 6-5th place finish at the 2005 European Championships before parting ways in 2007.
Partnership with Ekaterina Vasilieva
During the 2007-2008 season, Wende paired up with Russian Ekaterina Vasilieva. They secured a bronze medal at the 2008 German Championships. However, their performance was not deemed high enough by the German Skating Union to qualify them for the European Championships. Vasilieva subsequently returned to Russia, paving the way for Wende's next partnership.
Success with Maylin Hausch
In 2009, Wende joined forces with Maylin Hausch. They swiftly won silver at the German Championships, placed within the top 10 at the European Championships, and finished 15th at the World Championships. Their performance at the "Nebelhorn Trophy 2009" (7th place) earned them 141.96 points, meeting the German Skating Union's qualification criteria for the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. With the absence of top skaters Aljona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy, Hausch and Wende ascended to become German Champions for the first time in their careers.
