Early Career and Club Transfers

Danko Lazović, a Serbian striker, began his football journey at his hometown club Radnički. He later moved to Partizan Belgrade, where he played until his transfer to Feyenoord in 2003 for a fee of 7 million euros. However, Lazović struggled to secure a regular starting role at Feyenoord and was loaned out to Bayer Leverkusen. His stint at Leverkusen proved unsuccessful as well, and he was subsequently loaned back to Partizan in January 2006.

Return to Partizan and Controversy

Lazović made a promising start with Partizan, scoring 5 goals in 11 appearances. However, at the end of the season, he became embroiled in a heated argument with teammate Niša Saveljić, which escalated into a physical altercation at the team's training center.

Success at Vitesse and PSV

In summer 2006, Lazović returned to the Eredivisie with Vitesse, who purchased him from Feyenoord for 1.5 million euros. Despite Feyenoord agreeing to pay Lazović's salary, he enjoyed a remarkable season at Vitesse, emerging as a contender for the Eredivisie Golden Boot. His impressive performances attracted attention from PSV, who subsequently signed him from Vitesse for 6.6 million euros. Lazović inked a five-year contract with PSV.

Conflict at PSV and Transfer to Zenit

In November 2008, Lazović clashed with PSV head coach Huub Stevens, relegating him to the second team. Eventually, Lazović apologized and the conflict was resolved. In March 2010, Zenit Saint Petersburg initiated negotiations with Lazović for a possible transfer. The move was spearheaded by Zenit's head coach, Luciano Spalletti. On March 3, 2010, Lazović became officially part of the Zenit squad, signing a four-year contract.

International Career

Lazović made his international debut for Serbia in a friendly match against Brazil in March 2002.
