Dar Zuzovsky, an Israeli actress and model, knew from a young age that she wanted to pursue a career in show business. Known both locally and internationally since the age of 15, Dar has worked with global modeling agencies and brands, starred in Israeli television series that are renowned internationally, and has worked consistently in Hollywood.

Childhood and Early Life

Dar was born on February 24, 1991, in Tel Aviv, to Ashkenazi Jewish parents with Polish and Czech heritage. She grew up in the neighboring city of Ramat HaSharon with her younger brother, Roy. Her father, Sharon, is a real estate investor, and her mother, Einat, is an interior designer. Dar's parents are now divorced, a development that Dar initially struggled with before coming to terms with it a few years later.

From a young age, Dar participated in theater groups and received her first professional photoshoot offer while still in elementary school, fostering her desire to pursue acting and modeling. During her teenage years, Zuzovsky instructed in the scouting movement and, at the age of 16, auditioned at the Alon School of Arts, where she studied acting for two years.

Pre-Military and Military Service

In 2009, Dar volunteered for a pre-military year of service, working as a counselor at a boarding school for at-risk teenagers. Although initially met with hostility from her wards, including spitting, Zuzovsky eventually gained their trust and provided them with emotional support.

For the following two years, Dar served as a soldier in the Israel Defense Forces, specializing in photography for military bands. She has stated that her military service taught her discipline, respect, and camaraderie, while opening up new perspectives and allowing her to re-evaluate her life priorities. Throughout her three years of service, Zuzovsky continued her modeling and acting careers.

Modeling Career

Dar's physical attributes and height (5'9") allowed her to launch a full-fledged modeling career at the age of 15. Her first shoot was for a bridal website, an experience that Zuzovsky later described as peculiar, as she wore braces at the time and, therefore, did not smile in any of the photographs.

Dar later signed contracts with Elite Model Management and Women Management, leading agencies based in London and Paris, respectively. The Israeli model has also collaborated with Modelwerk in Hamburg and Women Direct in Milan. Zuzovsky has posed for advertising campaigns for Sephora, Urban Outfitters, Samsung, and other brands, and has graced the pages of Italian Cosmopolitan and the cover of Blaser magazine.

In 2016, Dar became the face of Castro, Israel's largest fashion retailer for men and women. The following year, the model posed for Israeli conceptual artist Tomer Peretz. Their project, "Like Yourself," was exhibited in downtown Los Angeles and live-streamed on various online platforms. Peretz has stated that he intended to convey the fine line between the positive and negative influence of social media, particularly on women.

Film Acting

Zuzovsky began acting in films in 2012, making her debut as the lead in "Ha-Hamama," a teen drama series set in an elite boarding school, which ran for three seasons. A year later, the show was acquired by Nickelodeon UK and aired under the title "Greenhouse," featuring an English dub of the original Hebrew version. In 2017, Netflix adapted the screenplay for an international audience, producing the reimagined series "Greenhouse Academy" with a different cast.

In 2013, Dar joined the cast of the series "Hostages," playing the daughter of the protagonist, whose family is targeted by four masked men. The show received high ratings and was broadcast in Israel, the UK, Germany, and various regions on Netflix. Several platforms acquired the screenplay for their own adaptations. The Israeli version also spawned a second season, which did not feature Zuzovsky.

The actress made her feature film debut in 2015 with the little-known Israeli comedy "Ibiza." That same year, Dar had a supporting role in the American drama "Papa," starring Paul Sorvino, Daryl Hannah, Mischa Barton, and other Hollywood luminaries. The film was released only in 2018.

Personal Life

Dar's first serious relationship began at the age of 19 with a former classmate. At 23, the model started dating Israeli musician and actor Lee Biran, who were dubbed by tabloids as one of Israel's most stylish celebrity couples. Their relationship ended in 2016, with the former lovers parting ways amicably. Soon after the breakup, Zuzovsky had a brief romance with singer Asaf Avidan.

Currently, the actress prefers to keep her personal life out of the public eye but has expressed a desire for a large family in the future, with at least three children. In her free time, Dar enjoys spending time at the beach with a book, practicing yoga, and meeting with her parents, brother, and friends. Dar Zuzovsky Today

The Israeli star continues to act and model. Among Zuzovsky's recent works is the drama "Harry Haft: The Last Fight," which premiered in Russia in spring 2022. The film is based on the true story of Polish Jew Harry Haft, who fought in boxing matches organized by the guards between inmates in the Auschwitz concentration camp and survived.

In fall 2018, Barry Levinson was signed on to direct the film, with Ben Foster cast in the leading role. Principal photography commenced in February 2019, with Dar joining the cast that spring, portraying a supporting character named Leah. The film had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in fall 2021.
