Dr. Gulnara Khaliullovna Ashlyayeva: A Pioneer in Kazakhstani Medicine
Early Life and Education
Dr. Gulnara Khaliullovna Ashlyayeva was born on May 25, 1943, in Karaganda, Kazakhstan. She hails from the Kernei sub-clan of the Karakesek clan of the Arghyn tribe. Her father, Sopayzhan Ashlyevich Ashlyayev (1917-1992), was a prominent public figure and one of the pioneers who built the city of Karaganda. Dr. Ashlyayeva graduated from the Karaganda State Medical University and completed her clinical residency in pulmonology at the Central Research Institute of Lung Diseases of the USSR Ministry of Health in Moscow.
Professional Career
Dr. Ashlyayeva began her career as a physician-resuscitator in the Anesthesiology and Resuscitation Department of the Almaty Research Institute of Lung Diseases (1973-1980). She then served as the Chairman of the trade union of the Research Institute (1980-1983) and the Chairman of the Leninsky District Health Committee of Almaty (1983-1987).
Leadership and Advocacy
In addition to her medical career, Dr. Ashlyayeva has played a significant role in humanitarian work. She is the head of the "Red Crescent Society" public charity organization in the city of Almaty. She has dedicated herself to improving the health and well-being of her community.
Honors and Recognition
Dr. Ashlyayeva's contributions to the field of medicine have been widely acknowledged. She was awarded the title "Excellence in Healthcare of the USSR" and received the Gratitude Letter from the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2001) for her outstanding achievements in healthcare. She has also been bestowed the "Shapagat" Medal (2004), the Order of Kurmet, and the "Veteran of Labor of Kazakhstan" Medal (2020).
