Biography of Dario Minieri

Dario Minieri is an Italian professional poker player who gained fame and success in the world of poker. Born on July 31, 1985, Minieri developed an interest in poker at a young age while also pursuing other interests such as playing Magic: The Gathering. At the age of sixteen, he began traveling the world and participating in numerous high-stakes poker tournaments, which led him to abandon his studies in psychology at university.

Early Poker Success

Minieri's passion for poker grew when a friend introduced him to PokerStars, and he began playing Sit and Go (SnG) tournaments. His skills quickly earned him success, and he considers his most significant win to be the $12,000 he won in a $10 rebuy tournament. This victory solidified his decision to dedicate his life to a professional poker career.

Online Poker Career

Since then, Minieri has achieved significant success in online poker, playing various poker variants and at different stakes. In December 2007, he won a total of $155,000 by triumphing in three PokerStars tournaments and performing well in the Sunday Million. Minieri also accumulated enough Frequent Player Points (FPP) on the site to purchase a Porsche, showcasing his dedication and skill in the online poker world.

Live Tournament Achievements

In addition to his online success, Minieri has also made a name for himself in live poker tournaments. In 2006, he made his debut in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event and cashed. The following year, Minieri secured 96th place in the WSOP Main Event, earning $67,353. However, his biggest achievement in the WSOP came in 2008 when he emerged victorious against 1,011 opponents in the $2,500 No-Limit Hold'em event, winning $528,418 and earning his debut WSOP bracelet.

Minieri has also excelled in European Poker Tour (EPT) events. In the second season, he won $20,235 for finishing 22nd at the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo. In the same season, he secured 3rd place in the EPT event in Baden, earning $159,763. His largest earnings from an EPT event came in San Remo, where he finished in 3rd place and won $451,532. Minieri continued his success in the fifth season, coming close to capturing the EPT championship title in Warsaw and earning $155,184 for his 3rd place finish.

Personal Life

When Minieri is not traveling to major tournaments or playing online, he enjoys watching movies, playing football, and driving his Porsche, which he purchased using FPP points. He is currently working towards acquiring enough FPP points to buy an Aston Martin. As a member of the PokerStars Pro team, Minieri continues to participate in various tournaments, constantly striving to increase his tournament volume and achieve further success in the poker world.
