Early Life and Education
Ana Srebrnič, born and raised in the quaint Slovenian village of Prelesje, pursued a multifaceted educational path. After completing her studies in Ljubljana, she delved into design and photography, earning a degree in the field. Her academic interests extended to history of art and political science, leading her to defend her diploma thesis on political parties' influence in Slovenia's 2007 presidential elections.
Political Aspirations and Public Engagements
Srebrnič ventured into the political arena in 2011, standing as a candidate for the Social Democrats party in the Črnomelj-Metlika electoral district. Despite not securing a seat in the National Assembly, her passion for civic involvement remained evident. She held a consulting role in the Office of Prime Minister Borut Pahor and actively participates in the vocal ensemble "Polanski Odmev."
Chess Career Highlights
Srebrnič's chess career began in in her youth, where she claimed multiple Slovene Youth and Junior Championships, including the U12, U14, U16, and U18 titles. She earned the title of Grandmaster in 2005, becoming the first Slovenian woman to achieve this prestigious honor.
As a member of the Slovenian national team, Srebrnič represented her country at four Chess Olympiads and five European Team Championships. Her accolades include an individual silver medal at the 2001 European Team Championship and a bronze medal for her performance as a reserve player in 2003.
International Success
Beyond her national achievements, Srebrnič has participated in numerous international tournaments, claiming victory at the Tapolca event in 1998. She competed in two European Individual Championships and represented Slovenia at World and European Youth Championships in various age categories.
