Dave Dudley, born David Darwin Pedruska, was an American country singer and musician. He was born on May 3, 1928, in Spencer, Wisconsin, USA.

Early Life and Career

Dudley had a short semi-professional baseball career, which ended with a hand injury. Afterward, he decided to make a name for himself in the world of country music. He became one of the first artists to work with the National Recording Corporation and recorded "Where's There's A Will" in 1959.

Rise to Fame

Dudley gained recognition as a singer of trucker anthems in the 1960s and 1970s. His signature song, "Six Days on the Road," was released in 1963 and became a huge hit. Other memorable compositions by Dudley include "Vietnam Blues," "Truck Drivin' Son-of-a-Gun," and "Me and ol' C.B." He also had notable collaborations, such as the duet "Day Drinking" with Tom T. Hall and his own hit "Fireball Rolled A Seven," dedicated to race car driver Edward Glenn "Fireball" Roberts.

Later Career and Death

Throughout the 1970s, Dudley enjoyed success with several country hits, including "Comin' Down" and "Fly Away Again." However, his popularity waned in the 1980s, and he focused on making recordings and revitalizing his career through live performances. He attempted to break into the European market but did not achieve the same level of success.

Dudley passed away on December 22, 2003, at the age of 75, after suffering a heart attack at his home in Wisconsin. He recorded over 70 albums during his career.
