Biography of David Ackles
David Ackles, an American singer and composer, was born on February 20, 1937 in the United States. He gained fame as a singer and composer, primarily due to his highly intriguing album "American Gothic" (1972), which enjoyed extraordinary popularity until the mid-70s.
Early Life and Career
Ackles was born into a show business family, as his father was an industrialist involved in the entertainment industry. He made his first stage debut at the age of four in vaudeville. Later, he appeared in films dedicated to the adventures of a dog named Rusty. He studied at universities in Northern California and Edinburgh, and briefly worked as a television scriptwriter before venturing into composing.
Rise to Fame
Ackles' composition "Blue Ribbons" achieved a certain level of success, catching the attention of Elektra Records. In 1967, he signed a contract with the label. His third studio album, "American Gothic," received excellent reviews in the music press. However, the success was short-lived, as Ackles' reflective songs, often based on Biblical stories, attracted some interest from English listeners, but failed to capture the attention of his homeland audience.
Later Career and Disappearance
Ackles went on to record another album, but little is known about his subsequent career. His last known release was "Five And Dime" in 1973 under Columbia Records.
