Biography of David Akopyan
David Surenovich Akopyan (born November 29, 1949, Berd, Armenian SSR) is an Armenian political figure and the leader of the Marxist Party of Armenia.
Early Life and Education
In 1966, Akopyan graduated from the secondary school in the city of Berd with a gold medal. He then pursued his higher education at the Faculty of Medicine of the Yerevan State Medical Institute, specializing in internal medicine. He successfully completed his medical studies in 1973.
Career and Political Activities
From 1973 to 1976, Akopyan worked as a resident physician at the 4th Department of the Ministry of Health of the Armenian SSR. He also served in the army from 1976 to 1978.
In 1978, Akopyan became the head of the Therapeutic Department at the 12th Polyclinic in Yerevan. On June 29, 1997, he founded and assumed the leadership of the Marxist Party of Armenia.
Publications and Contributions
Akopyan has authored several publications, including "New National Ideology and Doctrine," "New Doctrine of Biological Security of the Nation," "New Concept of Marxism," and "The Nagorno-Karabakh Issue as Part of the Armenian Question." He has also contributed to the development of new doctrines on parliamentary and democratic institutions, economic policies, education, and electoral rights.
