David Baramidze: Chess Master and German National Team Member
Early Life and CareerDavid Baramidze was born on September 27, 1988, in Tbilisi, Georgia. His love for chess was sparked by his father. In 1998, his family relocated to Germany, first to Hesse and then to Thuringia.
Dortmund Breakthrough
In July 2002, as a 13-year-old, Baramidze participated in an exhibition match at the Dortmund chess tournament. He faced Serbian chess prodigy and Woman Grandmaster Alisa Marić, defeating her 4.5-3.5.
Success in Rostock and Grandmaster Title
Later that year, Baramidze placed second in a tournament in Rostock. While he lost to Alexander Naumann, he outperformed experienced Grandmaster Uwe Bönsch. Soon after, he earned his Grandmaster title.
International Representation
As a member of the German national team, Baramidze represented his adopted country at two Chess Olympiads (2008 and 2014), the 9th World Team Chess Championship (2013), and two European Team Chess Championships (2007 and 2013).
