David James Furnish: Biography
David James Furnish is a Canadian film industry figure, former advertising executive, film director, and producer. He is best known for his documentary project 'Elton John: Tantrums & Tiaras'. Furnish is also recognized as the spouse of renowned British musician Elton John.

Early Life
Furnish was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to Jack Furnish, a former director at Bristol-Myers, and his housewife spouse Gladys. He has two brothers, an older brother named John and a younger brother named Peter. Furnish completed his education at Sir John A. Macdonald Collegiate Institute in 1981 and obtained a degree in business administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business.

Career in Advertising
After completing his education, Furnish ventured into the advertising industry. He secured a position at Ogilvy & Mather and eventually moved to London, where he became a member of the company's board.

Meeting Elton John
Furnish first met Elton John on October 30, 1993, when a mutual friend invited him to join the legendary musician for a formal lunch. Initially, Furnish was apprehensive that the lunch would be dull and that John would be boring. However, he was pleasantly surprised by John's captivating personality. The interest was mutual, and John took Furnish's phone number, inviting him to dinner the following evening.
Transition to Film
Furnish had always been interested in the film industry, and at one point, he even considered enrolling in courses at the British Film Institute. Currently, he holds a prominent position as one of the directors at Rocket Pictures, a company he co-founded with Elton John. In addition to his film work, Furnish serves as an editor for Tatler magazine and regularly writes columns for Interview and GQ.
Philanthropy and Marriage
Furnish is actively involved in charitable activities. He is a member of the AIDS Foundation board, which is headed by Elton John. Furnish regularly organizes fundraisers and events to support individuals affected by HIV/AIDS. In May 2005, John proposed to Furnish during a family and friends lunch at one of their homes in Windsor. The civil partnership between Elton and David took place on December 21, 2005, in Windsor, the day after such partnerships were legalized in England.
Career in Film
Throughout his career as a director and producer, Furnish has been involved in six major projects. The seventh project, 'Pride and Predator,' is currently in development.
