Biography of David Scott
David Mirman Scott was born on March 25, 1961. He graduated from Kenyon College in 1983 with a bachelor's degree in economics. After working as a clerk in several Wall Street firms, Scott was involved in internet news and information business from 1989 to 2002.

In the period from 1989 to 1995, Scott held several management positions at the newspaper corporation 'Knight-Ridder.' He worked in Tokyo from 1987 to 1993 and in Hong Kong from 1993 to 1995. After moving to the Boston area in 1995, Scott joined 'Desktop Data,' which later became 'NewsEdge' corporation. He served as the vice president of marketing at 'NewsEdge' until it was acquired by 'Thomson' corporation in 2002.

During his time at 'NewsEdge,' Scott made a chance discovery that led to the birth of his book. He unexpectedly found that creating and publishing content with valuable information online for a minimal cost was more effective than expensive PR programs. This discovery inspired him to write books based on his experience as a trader and observations of innovative marketing in organizations such as IBM and the rock band 'The Grateful Dead.'

Scott is a first-class speaker, presenting not only at conferences and corporate events but also at his own marketing seminars worldwide. One of his most popular books, 'The New Rules of Marketing and PR,' has sold over 250,000 copies and has been translated into 25 languages.
In 2001, Scott began using his middle name, Mirman, to distinguish himself from other famous David Scotts, including his acquaintance, the NASA astronaut and commander of the Apollo 15 spacecraft. In his book, 'The New Rules of Marketing and PR,' Scott primarily explains that marketing and public relations on the internet are significantly different from traditional media. He emphasizes that the 'old rules' of expensive advertising and persuading mass media for free coverage do not work online. Instead, Scott suggests utilizing tools such as blogs, podcasts, online news releases, online videos, and more.
David is married to Yukari Watanabe Scott, and they have a daughter. In his free time, he enjoys surfing, attending rock concerts, and collecting artifacts related to space exploration. During his time in Tokyo, he worked as an actor and model, even performing as a Chinese character in Giacomo Puccini's opera 'Turandot' when Teatro alla Scala toured in Tokyo.
