David Moinina Sengeh, a prominent Sierra Leonean politician and scientist, was born with a profound passion for innovation. Inspired by his uncle's medical expertise, he pursued a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering at Harvard University. While there, he co-founded Lebone Solutions, a start-up dedicated to developing affordable batteries from microbial fuel cells.

Pioneering in Prosthetics

Driven by his experiences witnessing the horrors of the civil war in Sierra Leone, Sengeh embarked on a doctoral program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), specializing in prosthetics. Through innovative techniques such as MRI mapping and 3D printing, he revolutionized prosthetic design, addressing pressure points and improving functionality.

Global Impact through Technology

Beyond his academic achievements, Sengeh established Global Minimum Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering entrepreneurship in Sierra Leone, Kenya, and South Africa. Inspired by the vision of "Made in Africa," he supported young innovators and established Innovate Salone, a program aimed at empowering students to create solutions to local challenges.

Career in Government and IBM

After obtaining his doctorate, Sengeh returned to Sierra Leone and joined IBM, where he focused on data-driven healthcare. He worked with IBM Research in Nairobi and Johannesburg, developing healthcare technologies tailored to Africa's specific needs.

Minister of Education

In 2019, Sengeh was appointed Minister of Education. His tenure was marked by his unwavering commitment to ensuring every child in his district had access to a laptop.
