Davide Lanzafame: A Journeyman Midfielder
Early Life and CareerDavide Lanzafame was born in Turin, Italy, to a father from Catania and a mother from Piedmont. He entered the youth system of Juventus, a renowned club in Turin. During his time with Juventus' youth sector, Lanzafame participated in several tournaments, including the "Trofeo Giacinto Facchetti."
Juventus Debut and Ambitions
In the 2006/07 season, Lanzafame made his debut for Juventus' senior team while the Bianconeri were in Serie B. His performance caught the attention of Pierluigi Casiraghi, who called him up to the Toulon Tournament and included him in the reserve squad for the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics.
In 2008, Bari coach Antonio Conte lauded Lanzafame's potential, comparing him to Cristiano Ronaldo in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport. However, Lanzafame's time at Bari yielded only 10 goals in the 2007/08 Serie B season.
Loan Spells and Joint Ownership
In 2008, Lanzafame was part of the deal to acquire striker Amauri for Juventus. The Bianconeri sold half of the rights to Lanzafame and sent Antonio Nocerino to Palermo. After a disappointing first half of the season at Palermo, Lanzafame was loaned back to Bari to gain more playing time in Serie A.
For the 2009-2010 season, Lanzafame was loaned to Parma by mutual agreement between Palermo and Juventus. Notably, he scored two goals against Juventus on May 9, 2010, leading Parma to victory.
Later Career and Transfer
In 2011, Lanzafame was loaned to Brescia until June 30, 2011. He has since become a free agent and has played for several Serie C clubs, including Novara, where he currently plays as a midfielder. Lanzafame has also represented Italy's youth national team.
