Biography of Dean Corll
Dean Corll was an American serial killer, known for his involvement in the rape and murder of at least 27 boys, with a suspected total of 44 killings. He was born on December 24, 1939, in the state of Indiana.
Early Life and Army Service
During his childhood, Corll had a passion for music and played the trombone. In 1964, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served for a year before returning to live with his mother. It was during his time in the army that Corll first realized he was homosexual.
Life in Houston
After his military service, Corll settled in Houston and started working as an electrician. In 1970, he met a 15-year-old boy named David Brooks, who became his regular partner in homosexual activities in exchange for rewards. Brooks later testified that he witnessed Corll raping two boys in his house. As a bribe for his silence, Corll gifted him a Chevrolet car. Around the same time, Corll also befriended Elmer Henley, a 14-year-old teenager.
The Murders
From the early 1970s, Corll began sexually assaulting and murdering young boys, ranging from teenagers to young men, before disposing of their bodies by burning them in an aircraft hangar. The oldest victim was 21 years old. Brooks and Henley became Corll's accomplices, luring other boys into his house. Corll paid them $1,000 per victim. The bodies were hidden in the hangar. Both teenagers actively participated in the torture of the victims, including assisting Corll in castrating them.
Death and Imprisonment
In 1973, Brooks and Henley shot and killed Corll, as they feared becoming his next victims due to his increasingly erratic behavior. Both were sentenced to life imprisonment for their involvement in the crimes.
