Debra Lynn Messing is an American actress, nominated for the "Golden Globe" awards and winner of the "Emmy Awards" and "Screen Actors Guild Awards". She was born on August 15, 1968, in New York City, USA, into a Jewish family of immigrants from Poland and Russia. Her mother, Sandra, was involved in real estate, banking, and even worked as a professional singer. Her father, Brian, worked as a jewelry salesman. When Debra was three years old, she moved with her parents and older brother to the small town of East Greenwich in Rhode Island.

Early Life and Education
During her time in school, Debra Messing won the "Young Miss Rhode Island" contest and began participating in the "Young Miss America" program. She also took private lessons in dance, singing, and acting, and participated in school theatrical productions. After completing high school, Debra enrolled at Brandeis University in Massachusetts, where she studied in the British-European London Theater Arts program. In 1990, after earning her bachelor's degree, Debra transferred to New York University, where she obtained a Master of Fine Arts degree.
Career
In 1993, Debra Messing appeared in the theater production of "Angels in America: Perestroika," and from 1994 to 1995, she appeared in the television series "NYPD Blue." Her film debut came in 1995, in the movie "A Walk in the Clouds" alongside Keanu Reeves. Over the next few years, Debra Messing had guest roles in the TV series "Ned and Stacey" and "Seinfeld," as well as participating in theater productions in club theaters.
In 1998, Debra Messing won the casting for the lead role in the series "Will & Grace." This role brought her numerous nominations.
