Miriam Leone: A Sicilian Star

Early Life and Education

Born in the Sicilian city of Catania in 1985, Miriam Leone spent her childhood in Aci Catena, her mother's hometown. As a child, she dreamed of becoming an actress, often skipping school on days when her favorite films aired on television. In her teenage years, Leone enjoyed designing and sewing her own clothes, harboring aspirations of becoming a fashion designer. At the age of 14, she moved to the seaside town of Aciaroli. After graduating from high school, Leone pursued a degree in Humanities at the University of Catania, balancing her studies with a job as a radio announcer.

Miss Italy and the Silver Screen

In 2008, Leone's life took a dramatic turn when she won the title of Miss Italy. Along with the crown, she also won the "Miss Cinema" award, which granted her a three-month scholarship at a prestigious acting studio in Hollywood. At the time of her triumph, Leone was just two exams short of completing her undergraduate degree and working on a thesis exploring the emancipation of women through the lens of Frida Kahlo. However, her Miss Italy victory propelled her into the spotlight, leading to a career as a television host and later as an actress.

Film and Television Roles

Leone's first major acting role came in the 11th season of the crime drama series "Distretto di Polizia." She then rose to prominence for her portrayal of Veronica Castello in the political drama series "1992," which explored corruption and power struggles in Milan. The series spawned two sequels, "1993" and "1994." Around the same time, Leone played Clara Grandi in the historical drama "La dama velata," co-starring Lino Guanciale as Guido Fossà. Another notable role was that of Bianca in the historical drama series "Medici: Masters of Florence."

Personal Life

From 2011 to 2018, Leone was in a relationship with musician Davide Di Leo, also known as Boosta. In 2021, she married Paolo Carullo, a fellow Sicilian who is a musician and manager for the band Apple Jack.

Eclectic Style and Inspirations

Leone's natural hair color is brown, but she has experimented with blonde and red hues. She has a green-eyed gaze and stands at 176 cm (5'9") tall. The actress prefers vintage clothing over fast fashion trends. Her favorite actors include Sean Connery, George Clooney, Nicole Kidman, and Giovanna Mezzogiorno.

Recent Projects

In 2021, Leone starred as Eva Kant in the highly anticipated crime thriller "Diabolik," based on the popular Italian comic book series. The film is set to have two sequels. In 2022, she appeared in the romantic drama "Escape from Pretoria" alongside Pierfrancesco Favino and Michele Placido.
