An American's Lucky Lottery Find
Nearly Thrown Away:American Delane Passucchi, 47, from Michigan, almost discarded the winning lottery ticket that brought her a $50,004 windfall. She had correctly matched four numbers, but when she checked the ticket at her local grocery store, it mistakenly indicated no winnings.
Rollercoaster of Emotions:"I've been on a rollercoaster since I bought the ticket!" Passucchi said. "I thought I didn't win, then I thought maybe I did win something, and then I found out I won this amount."
Defective Scanner:Passucchi had purchased the ticket at a Kroger store in Pinckney, Michigan. Upon her return to scan it at the self-checkout kiosk, she encountered a malfunctioning machine. "I had a couple of Powerball tickets, and it came up that I didn't win anything," Passucchi recalled.
Almost Trashed:Despite noticing that her numbers matched the winning combination, she returned the "supposedly losing ticket" to her purse, intending to scan it later. When she tried again at a different kiosk, the same message appeared. She again tucked the ticket away.
Last-Minute Check:Weeks later, Passucchi made a final attempt to check the ticket. Faced with the same issue once more, she decided to throw it away. However, as she approached the trash can, a cashier intervened, asking if she could scan the ticket herself.
Relief and Surprise:The cashier informed Passucchi that she had a winning ticket and should contact the lottery office. "I figured my winnings were just way too big for the scanner to read from my hands!" Passucchi exclaimed.
Plans for the Winnings:The American woman plans to donate some of her winnings to her church and save the rest for the future.
